Symbolism of this piece:

Tupac Amaru Shakur was named after a famous Inca warrior whose name was Tupac Amaru meaning Shining Serpent, which is represented in the snake-like ring I drew. The third eye in the same ring represents open-mindedness and inner wisdom. You can also see my portrayal on a famous crown on the second ring that portrays a ‘King of New York’, originally worn by Biggie Smalls. I intentionally drew and made 2Pac’s scars, bullet wounds and tattoos conspicuous as they are part of his life story. The Queen Nefertiti tattoo represents his love for his mother and is a symbol of strong women. The text ‘2 Die 4’ comes from his song lyric – “You know what my momma used to tell me. If ya can’t find something to live for…. then you best, find something to die for”. But his very first tattoo was his ‘2PAC’ tattoo, which he inked when he was 18 years old. Custom gold frame completes my visual representation of 2Pac’s story.
